Accreditation
Heritage Academy is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, Inc. This accreditation is recognized by the Georgia Board of Regents and accepted for admission into the University of Georgia System and most private colleges.

Parental Responsibility
After acceptance into Heritage Academy, it is the task of the parent to proceed within the guidelines of the Georgia State Law concerning home study programs by (1) submitting before September 1 (annually) to the superintendent of the local school district in which you live a Declaration of Intent to Utilize a Home Study Program; and (2) submitting monthly attendance forms to the local school system at the end of each month. The local school superintendent will provide a form upon request for this purpose to be returned to that office. The declaration must include the names and ages of the students, the address where the program is located, and the dates of the school year.

It is the responsibility of the parent(s) during the school year to guide their student to completion of each day’s assigned work. This is especially important on Tuesdays and Thursdays when students work at home (sometimes referred to as the "satellite classroom").More detailed guidelines for the parental role in each course is contained in the course descriptions.

The parents share joint responsibility with the school for properly placing student, for helping them build the character qualities that lead to academic success, and reinforcing strong Christian characteristics. In particular, the university model seeks to encourage students to accept responsibility for learning the material that the Lord, working through parents and teachers, has set before them.

Parents are required to attend parent training during the school year. The number and topics will vary from year to year, but each training time will be relevant to the philosophy and purpose of the school. The two main categories will be Biblical parenting and academic training to enhance your effectiveness in the satellite classroom.

Joint Enrollment with Colleges

Since it became accredited in February of 2000, Heritage Academy has offered joint enrollment with area colleges to eligible juniors and seniors. This is a great opportunity to get a head start on college credits while finishing up high school. Certain pre-requisites, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores are required. Contact our office or the college of your choice for more information.
