About Heritage Academy

In the summer of 1997 a parent from Gainesville, Georgia, attended a meeting at the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C.  There she learned about Grace Preparatory Academy, a University Model School in Texas offering an alternative in education.  That information would lead to several families agreeing to work together to start a new school in the Gainesville area.  Heritage Academy was officially incorporated and opened its first day of classes in September 1997.

In the past 10 years, 153 students have graduated.  Heritage has grown to about 200 hundred students, over 20 faculty members, and a support staff of nine.  In addition, the school has added 7 varsity teams, at least 4 junior varsity teams and sometimes middle school teams involving 13 coaches participating in 5 different sports.

Heritage is directed by a board of 7 men and women.  Each of them have students enrolled at the school and have a variety of experience as previously being public private or homeschool parents. While the board guides the overall direction of the school, the day to day management is in the hands of the Headmaster and staff.  This allows the qualified teachers to concentrate on teaching.

Staying true to the intention of our founding families, Heritage integrates home and family in producing disciples of Christ, encouraging Godly character while providing excellence in academics.
