Code of Conduct

It is by his deeds that a lad distinguishes himself,
if his conduct is pure and right.
(Proverbs 20:11)

The purpose of Heritage Academy's Code of Conduct is to promote a Christ-like attitude in its learning environment and to encourage the development of positive Christian relationships among the students. Therefore, it is important that specific guidelines regarding behavior while attending Heritage be set.

  1. Students should show respect to adults at all times. A title (Mr., Mrs., Coach, etc.) should, therefore, be used when addressing an adult.

  2. Students should treat each other with respect, kindness, and compassion just as God commands us in Matthew 7:12, "So in everything do to others what you would have them do to you." Students are to refrain from gossip or the appearance of gossip, backbiting, and any form of strife. Whispering among students in the presence of those not included in the conversation is rude and will not be tolerated, for "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be." (James 3:9-10)

  3. Any manner of disruptive behavior in the classroom is considered an act of disrespect toward the teacher and classmates and will not be tolerated.

  4. The school facility and grounds should be kept clean, orderly, and in a manner which shows an attitude of gratefulness. Writing on or defacing walls, desks, or any school/church property is strictly prohibited. Any fines assessed to the school by the church will be passed on to the offending student's(s') parents.

  5. There will be no horseplay, running, or rough play during or between classes.

  6. Use of profanity is not permitted.

  7. Public displays of affection between sexes such as hand-holding, kissing, etc., are not permitted.

  8. Students should not bring radios, tape players, tapes, pagers, or cell phones to school unless specific permission is given by the school administration.

  9. Tobacco products, illicit drugs, alcohol, or weapons are not allowed on campus or at any Heritage Academy sponsored event.

  10. Students should be prepared for classes by being punctual, completing assignments, and bringing necessary supplies.

  11. Parents are required to make certain that students are picked up or, if driving themselves, leave immediately following class. Students are not permitted to loiter on school premises, which includes parked cars.

  12. All driving students must use extreme caution while driving in the parking lot. Any driving deemed reckless by the Administration will result in student's driving privileges being revoked.
